Coca-Cola Invites South Florida’s Youth to Dance for a Cause

Comparte el Movimiento is a dance contest that offers young members of the community the opportunity to compete and perform at Coca-Cola’s Calle Ocho stage for the chance to win up to $3,000 for a cause of their choice

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Hey South Florida! Do you love to dance? Is there a cause that moves you? Here’s a chance to win big for your community or school. Coca-Cola’s “Comparte el Movimiento” is a dance contest that invites young people to dance to support a cause of their choice. Coca-Cola will award up to $3,000 to the winning teams’ charity, organization or school.

Throughout its more than 128-year history, Coca-Cola has played a role in many important moments in the community. Through this competition, Coca-Cola hopes to inspire South Florida’s youth to move to a lively Latin beat and get active - both physically and in their communities.

“This is much more than just a dance competition. This is a chance for young people to dance for a cause that moves them and create moments of happiness that bring people together, all while helping the community,” said Lillian Rodriguez Lopez, vice president, Sustainability and Stakeholder Relations, The Coca-Cola Company. “Get up, grab your friends, get moving and #BailaConCoke! Be a part of the movimiento.”

To enter, participants’ ages 14 through 19 enrolled in high school or college at the time of entry are to submit a dance routine to the official contest theme song, “Let Fun Take Control,” by Latino duo NorthRock 360. Dance crews must include the three signature dance moves and upload their submission to YouTube. Then, the dance crew (or parent/legal guardian over the age of 18) may use that link to officially enter the contest by Feb.15, 2015. Visit www.comparteconcoke.com to download the song, learn the dance moves, review the complete details and enter for a chance to win.

Participants are encouraged to use the #BailaConCoke to spread the word and share their cause as five finalists will be selected and posted for public voting starting March 1.

The program will culminate on March 15. The three finalists with the most public votes will have the opportunity to perform live on the Coca-Cola stage during the much-anticipated Calle Ocho Festival. A panel of judges will select a winner at the live event, and the winning team will have the opportunity to direct $3,000 to support a community cause of their choice. The first and second runner-up will receive $1,000 and $500 for their cause.
